Other Territories's Train Commuters: A Snapshot of Workforce Mobility Amidst Lockdown
The proportion of people (aged 15 and over) who reported that they used the train to commute to work on Tuesday, 10th of August for the 2021 Australian Census. If multiple travel methods were used, respondents were instructed to mark all of them. It is important to note that at the time of the Census, Victoria was in lockdown, whilst NSW and ACT would follow within the fortnight. For more information, refer to our blog on the Census.
The Train Commuters data can be useful for property investors and those looking to move as it provides insights into the transportation options available in different suburbs. Suburbs with a high proportion of train commuters may be more attractive to those who rely on public transportation to get to work. This data can also be used to assess the livability of a suburb, as areas with good public transportation options may be more convenient and accessible for residents. For example, a family with children may prioritize living in a suburb with easy access to public transportation to ensure their children can get to school safely and efficiently. Similarly, young professionals may prefer to live in areas with good public transportation options to avoid the stress and expense of commuting by car. Overall, the Train Commuters data can provide valuable insights for those looking to make informed decisions about where to live or invest in property.
