| Tree 1 - River Red Gum (Front Yard) My driveway and front porch are already cracking from this tree's roots. I'm genuinely worried about damage to my home's foundation and the safety of my family given that its next to the bedroom. This is also highlighted in the arborist report and the ongoing property damage means removal is the only viable solution. Trees 2 & 3 - Dead River Red Gums Both trees are completely dead. Tree 3 is particularly concerning as it's right next to the public footpath where my kids, neighbours and their children walk daily. I cannot in good conscience leave dead trees that could drop branches without warning. Tree 5 - Large River Red Gum (Near Neighbour’s Driveway) This tree has grown significantly and now has branches extending over my neighbour’s driveway and the public footpath. There's also a dead hanging branch in the middle that needs removal. For everyone's safety and to maintain good neighbourly relations, this tree needs professional pruning to bring it back to a safe size. Please also find attached letter from neighbour highlighting his concerns and request for tree removal. - Darebin City Council D/384/2025 | 57 Gresswell Road Macleod VIC 3085 | 01 Aug 2025 |

| 1. Issue at hand: Over the past few years, the tree in question has shown concerning signs of deterioration, including a noticeable accumulation of dead wood within its canopy. Furthermore, it has a history of branch failures that have led to property damage on three occasions, with signs of "white rot" and "brown rot" observed at different failure points. The presence of leaf and stem gall insects, along with evidence of the 'longicorn beetle,' underscores the tree's deteriorating health. 2. Immediate Concerns: The hazardous tree is situated in close proximity to my residence, directly overhanging the rear deck and alfresco dining area. This has rendered these spaces unsafe for my family due to the risk of branch failures. Consequently, an area that was once a cherished spot for family gatherings has turned into a constant source of anxiety. 3. Existing Efforts and Challenges: My family has invested considerable resources in landscaping the vicinity of the tree with native vegetation and has diligently maintained the tree. Despite our efforts, the tree's state of decline has transformed it from an asset to a liability. The situation is predicted to worsen over time, with increasing risks to individuals and infrastructure. 4. Proposed Solution: In light of the aforementioned concerns, I am proposing the removal of the hazardous tree and its replacement with a healthy specimen that will enhance the immediate landscape and contribute positively to the environment. The replacement tree options I have identified are as follows: a. Snowy River Wattle b. Tall Baeckea c. Silver Banksia d. Illawarra Flame Tree e. Red Spotted Gum The new tree would ideally be relocated to the southeast corner of my property, creating a safer and more enjoyable outdoor space for my family while minimizing risks. - Darebin City Council D/409/2023 | 22 Sugarloaf Drive Macleod VIC 3085 | 25 Aug 2023 |
